Max Pett, Munich Germany

Location: Pettenkoferstraße 8, 80336 Munich, Germany

While we were at Max Pett for breakfast we spied on their normal menu. We saw a few things we really wanted to try so we made a reservation to come back for dinner. We started off with the Potato Gnocchi. This was really tasty, really creamy with zucchini, broccoli, and carrots and a great texture. Delicious.

We also tried the red beet coconut soup. This was incredible! A little sweet, but still rich and delicious. I could have eaten many many bowls of this. I am going to have to try and recreate it at home.

While we were waiting for our mains they brought around samples of sausage with mustard and pickles for everyone to try. Very tasty.

For our mains we first tried the Palak Tofu - spinach, cherry tomatoes and tofu in a peanut curry sauce served with rice, mango chutney and papadam. This was also very good. The peanutey sauce was delicious, it had a hint of heat, and was spiced nicely. The only down side was the papdam was really greasy.

The other main we tried was the cheese spaetzle with a side salad, which was really what I came back to try. I have been trying to find a vegan version for a while, but it seems like most places do not offer it. This was amazing as well! So tasty. Raymond did complain that he wanted more fried onion on top, but he agreed that the cheesy flavor was really good and the spaetzle had a great texture. So tasty. The salad was also very good with a great vinaigrette.

We were not going to get dessert as we were pretty full after all of that food, but as we were waiting for our server to come back we saw a sundae come out for another customer and it looked amazing. We were short on time so we had to eat quickly, but we got a hot raspberry sundae with wafer cookies and it was very good.

Overall - I really enjoyed our dinner here. We almost didn't go to Max Pett at all based on some not so good reviews, and since it is more expensive than most places the food should be amazing. Some of the reviews stated how slow the service is, which is true but they only have one lady serving the entire restaurant. She was really working hard to try and get to everyone, but she can only go so fast. Really I think they would benefit from hiring another server, but the food is amazing and if you are not in a hurry and know it might take a while it is worth the wait. Definitely check it out if you are in Munich.
