Tanne B, Berlin Germany

Location: Eisenbahnstraße 48, 10997 Berlin, Germany

Tanne B is already one of our favorite ice cream shops in Berlin. We were out and about and stopped in for some ice cream and I saw someone go outside with a waffle that looked delicious. I told Raymond how I wanted that and he asked if I could eat it. I replied probably not as well...they usually are not vegan. He searched for a menu to look at the waffles...and they were vegan! That was super exciting for me so we had to get one with some soy chocolate ice cream (my favorite). The waffle was delicious. They are made to order so they are still hot when you get them and they are just really really good. It is for the best that we don't live closer to here otherwise I would go way too often for some waffles and ice cream. Delicious.

Overall - Definitely get a waffle with your ice cream!

May Restaurant and Lounge, Seattle WA

Location: 1612 N 45th St, Seattle, WA 98103, USA

Our one friend recommended May Restaurant to us as a great Thai restaurant. Now Thai is one of my favorite foods so I am always looking for another great restaurant so we decided to check it out. We started with the fresh vegetable rolls. These tasted like they had mango in them which I am allergic to so I didn't really eat much of them, but they were tasty from what I did have.

Then we had the Golden Noodle - wide rice noodle, Thai broccoli, onions, red bell peppers, chopped green bean, bamboo shoot, mushrooms. This was alright. Not the best flavor really and not something I would order again, but it was just alright.

We also had the pumpkin curry - Pumpkin in yellow curry with fried tofu, bamboo shoots, red bell peppers, baby corn, and fresh sweet Thai basil. I was really excited for this as fresh pumpkin is delicious. This dish however...was horrible. The top was just a thick coat of oil - WAY too much and it was just...not good. There were a few large pieces of pumpkin that were still rock hard - even with a knife it was hard to cut it into pieces so you could actually eat it. Way undercooked and since that was the main ingredient...it was very disappointing. That coupled with the oil slick on top and the just not very good flavor of the curry itself and it was just a disaster. Just not good at all.

Overall - I would not recommend May's. It was just not good. I think their dish is the pad thai and we probably should have gotten that - then maybe we would have had one dish that was amazing.

Renaissance Cafe, Leavenworth WA

Location: 217 8th St, Leavenworth, WA 98826, USA

One time when coming back over the mountains from Eastern Washington we stopped in Leavenworth looking for some lunch and stumbled across the Renaissance Cafe. The food was delicious so when we took a weekend to go hiking nearby I wanted to go back and eat there again. This time we ordered Dawn's Favorite Tofu Scramble - herb and garlic tofu, bell peppers, zucchini, olives, tomato, minus the cheese in a herb garlic wrap. I was really excited for this as it seemed like it would be really flavorful, but unfortunately it really tasted like nothing. For as much herb and spice as was mentioned in the description it was just...not good. I am not really sure how they did it as the veggies should at least have flavor but somehow they didn't. If this is Dawn's favorite tofu scramble...well apparently Dawn hasn't had very many or any good ones. This was served with either a side salad, pasta salad (not vegan), or god food - linguini with garlic tahini-ginger sauce. This was really tasty. It had a nice nutty garlic flavor and I would have gladly eaten more of it.

The other wrap we tried was the Bohemian - black beans and potato mix, bell peppers, sprouts, onions, guacamole and salsa in herb garlic wrap served with the god food as well since we both wanted that. This one I was not as excited to try, but it was really good. So much better than the tofu scramble one. The potato bean mixture was spiced really well and it with the other ingredients it came together nicely. If we were to go back I would definitely get this.

Overall - Some of the food was good, some not so good. Leavenworth does not have a lot of vegan options so if you are there you could stop by but skip the tofu scramble. Or go to Munchen Haus which is amazing.

Munchen Haus, Leavenworth WA

Location: 709 Front St, Leavenworth, WA 98826, USA

Munchen Haus is a beer hall in the German inspired town of Leavenworth WA. Now the whole town is not really anything like Bavaria, but it is cheesy and we had never been. We wanted to go hiking near town so we went for some food afterwards. Munchen Haus has one vegan option - a field roast sausage. The way it works if they give you the sausage and you can put whatever you want on it out of their various condiments. I added some curry ketchup, apricot mustard, they had fresh pear chutney that day which was delicious, and the best kraut I have ever had! It was amazing and I am not usually a big kraut fan. Like I will take a little on a sandwich or something, but not very much. This I could just eat in a bowl with nothing else. So good we stopped back the following day on the way home to get another one.

Overall - if you are in the area definitely stop by here. The kraut is amazing and the number of condiments to choose from is kind of incredible as well. Most of them are vegan.

China-Thai-Imbiss, Berlin Germany

Location: Otto-Suhr-Allee 120, 10585 Berlin, Germany

After a long day of bike riding we were really hungry so we stopped at China Thai Imbiss. We started with the mini rolls. These were just fried with not much in them, but they were tasty.

We also tried the green curry. This was just alright and really not the best curry. I could make a better curry than this so I would not recommend it.

We also tried the glass noodles with vegetables. This was amazing! One of my favorite noodle dishes we have had in Berlin. The sauce was really tasty and the noodle delicious. I wish I this were closer to my house as I would eat here for this dish often.

Overall - This was not the best Asian restaurant in Berlin, but the glass noodles were amazing!

Eislabor, Berlin Germany

Location: Raumerstraße 32, 10437 Berlin, Germany

After having dinner at Vego Foodworld we wandered down to the park and found Eislabor with 4 different vegan flavors. Raymond went with soy chocolate and soy stracciatella which he is a big fan of.

I tried the soy chocolate and soy almond. The chocolate was really chocolaty but not as good as some of the other ones we have had. The almond was alright and Raymond enjoyed the stracciatella.

Overall - This was not the best ice cream we have had in Berlin, but it was not horrible either. If we were in the area again and wanted ice cream we would stop by again.

Oh la la Tartes Shop, Berlin Germany - Brunch

Location: Mainzer Straße 18, 12053 Berlin, Germany

We walked by Oh la la Tartes Shop one day and saw they have a vegan brunch on Saturdays. I was really excited as when we asked about it they said there would be baked goods like croissants, some hot food items, crepes, etc. It sounded wonderful. We made a reservation and showed up....to a fairly disappointing brunch. I looked at their facebook page and the photos have lots of baked good and yummy looking things. We had the above - some crepes with jams to put in them - they were super sweet and tasty, but I couldn't eat a ton of them as they were so sweet. In the small round container was a mint cucumber cold soup which was alright. Above that was some zucchini pasta which was...not the best I have had. Some salad and a little dessert with raspberry and this delicious marshmallow creamy stuff on top.

Later they also added some tofu and spinach dish (at the top of the plate) which was not very flavorful. There was a chocolate mini cupcake that was super dry and not very good, some tofu next to that and pineapple, and some chocolate mousse which was amazing. They did have some rice cakes, but no other baked good like I had been hoping. Really I was really disappointed in the brunch - I left still hungry, but I couldn't eat any more crepes.

Overall - I really would like to go back and try the brunch again. I was expecting baked goods and yummy treats, but the brunch we had was....there wasn't much except sugar. I would also like to go back and try their vegan quiche someday.

Caramelli, Berlin Germany

Location: Wühlischstraße 31, 10245 Berlin, Germany

Our tour of vegan ice cream in Berlin continues with Caramello. We have gone by here a few times and they usually only have like vanilla and other flavors that I am just eh on so we don't usually get anything. This day they had chocolate sorbet so we tried it in a waffle cone. The sorbet was...well it was chocolatey, but not as good as the soy chocolate ice creams we have had other places. Yeah I know it is sorbet, but well I don't know I still expected it to be better. It was alright, but you might as well walk up to Der Eisbarliner if you want ice cream and are in the area. They are way better.

Overall - Caramello is just alright. Der Eisbarliner is just up the road and is a much better option.
