Square Lotus, Bellevue WA

Location: 3540 Factoria Boulevard Southeast, Bellevue, WA 98006, USA

After running a few errands in Bellevue one day we decided to go back to Square Lotus for dinner since we enjoyed it so much the last time. We started with the shredded tofu rolls - Rice paper wrapped with shredded fried tofu, lettuce, rice noodles, and potatoes. Served with peanut sauce and topped with ground peanut. They were delicious, and if you read any of my other posts you know I love fresh rolls and it is hard to go wrong there.

Then we decided to try the sesame beef since it was soo delicious at Blossom Vegetarian in Renton. This one was alright, not as good as Blossom's version. The mock meat was good, and the flavors were nice but....I think if we wouldn't have had the other one I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

And finally we tried the yellow curry -  fried tofu cooked in yellow curry paste and coconut milk with broccoli, carrots, potatoes, and white onions. This was also good, but I think I like the square lotus curry we tried last time better. This was tasty and I really enjoyed it, I just like more veggies in my curry.

Overall - Square Lotus is a great option if you are in Bellevue and need somewhere to eat. It is in a strip mall and you can very easily miss it if you do not know it is there, but give it a try if you are in the area.

May Restaurant and Lounge, Seattle WA

Location: 1612 N 45th St, Seattle, WA 98103, USA

Our one friend recommended May Restaurant to us as a great Thai restaurant. Now Thai is one of my favorite foods so I am always looking for another great restaurant so we decided to check it out. We started with the fresh vegetable rolls. These tasted like they had mango in them which I am allergic to so I didn't really eat much of them, but they were tasty from what I did have.

Then we had the Golden Noodle - wide rice noodle, Thai broccoli, onions, red bell peppers, chopped green bean, bamboo shoot, mushrooms. This was alright. Not the best flavor really and not something I would order again, but it was just alright.

We also had the pumpkin curry - Pumpkin in yellow curry with fried tofu, bamboo shoots, red bell peppers, baby corn, and fresh sweet Thai basil. I was really excited for this as fresh pumpkin is delicious. This dish however...was horrible. The top was just a thick coat of oil - WAY too much and it was just...not good. There were a few large pieces of pumpkin that were still rock hard - even with a knife it was hard to cut it into pieces so you could actually eat it. Way undercooked and since that was the main ingredient...it was very disappointing. That coupled with the oil slick on top and the just not very good flavor of the curry itself and it was just a disaster. Just not good at all.

Overall - I would not recommend May's. It was just not good. I think their dish is the pad thai and we probably should have gotten that - then maybe we would have had one dish that was amazing.

China-Thai-Imbiss, Berlin Germany

Location: Otto-Suhr-Allee 120, 10585 Berlin, Germany

After a long day of bike riding we were really hungry so we stopped at China Thai Imbiss. We started with the mini rolls. These were just fried with not much in them, but they were tasty.

We also tried the green curry. This was just alright and really not the best curry. I could make a better curry than this so I would not recommend it.

We also tried the glass noodles with vegetables. This was amazing! One of my favorite noodle dishes we have had in Berlin. The sauce was really tasty and the noodle delicious. I wish I this were closer to my house as I would eat here for this dish often.

Overall - This was not the best Asian restaurant in Berlin, but the glass noodles were amazing!

Golden Buddha, Berlin Germany

Location: Gleimstraße 26, 10437 Berlin, Germany

Golden Buddha is a small Thai restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg.  They have a whole section of vegetarian items which can be made vegan, as well as all the noodle dishes (but not the rice dishes). They have summer rolls with tofu and veggies and a light sauce which are definitely one of my favorites. I am used to a peanut sauce being served with them, but this sesame sauce is pretty tasty.

For the entrees we ordered the green curry with soy pieces. This was pretty tasty, though Raymond was convinced the soy pieces were real meat so it freaked him out a bit. I knew it wasn't but they were still a little odd. The flavors were good though.

We also tried the Pad Thai with tofu no egg. This was just alright, not as good as some other ones we have had but not horrible either. I will still look out for a Thai place that has noodle dishes I can eat as most places have just curries.

Overall - I really liked Golden Buddha. The waiters were friendly, they have a nice outdoor area and the food was pretty good.

Thai Curry Simple, Seattle WA

Location: 1122 E Madison St, Seattle, WA 98122, USA
From Vegan Gastrobot

Thai Curry Simple is a small stand on Madison that I think used to be a coffee stand. They only offering a few curries for $6 and I believe some Thai iced tea. One curry is vegan  - the Tofu Curry. This came in a large round plastic takeout container and is served over rice. We were out and about and wanted something quick and remembered this place and got one curry to share. I was glad we did as it was really a lot of food and it was plenty for both of us. The curry was tasty, not too spicy though I wish there would be more variety of vegetable. For $6 for dinner for both of us though I cannot really complain.

Overall - If I were out and about after happy hour or something I would definitely stop in here for a quick cheap bite to eat before heading home.
