Chay Village, Berlin Germany

Location: Eisenacher Straße 40, 10781 Berlin, Germany

For my birthday this year I decided to try the other Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant in Berlin, Chay Village>. I couldn't find a menu online, but I was hoping that they would have pho since it is my favorite meal. When I looked at the menu I was a little worried it would be the same disappointment that Chay Viet was since the menu's are very similar. We started with the fresh rolls which I love, but at Chay Viet they lacked any flavor. These were so good! They had a very nice flavor with mint, basil, noodles, tofu and veggies inside served with a great peanut sauce. Really these were some of the better fresh rolls we have had and we will have to get them when we go back again.

We also ordered one of the steam buns as well, I love steam buns and they are hard to find here. It had lots of veggies, sprouts and mushrooms in it and was really tasty. I love steam buns!

They did have pho so I ordered that and hoped that it was better than Chat Viet. Really the last pho I had there was barely edible so I was hoping that since the other two dishes far exceeded them, this would as well. I was not disappointed, the pho was amazing. The broth was delicious, the noodles soft, the tofu tasty and some other mock meats, one of which was like a sheet of something that I have never had before and was skeptical of but it was really delicious. Overall I loved it and if Chay Village was closer to my house I would eat there like every day for lunch.

We also ordered the Bun Xa - rice noodles, salad, spicy tofu with roasted leeks with a vinegar sauce. This was also very good. Originally we were going to share since I was worried the pho wouldn't be very good, but since it was amazing Raymond had this to himself, though I tried it. It was a little spicy, but not too much and the sauce was better than other we have had.

Overall - Chay Village was amazing. Very delicious Vietnamese food and we will definitely be heading back again soon. Definitely check it out if you are in Berlin.
