The Bishops Arms, Kiruna Sweden

Location: Föreningsgatan 6C, 981 31 Kiruna, Sweden

While in Kiruna we stayed at The Bishops Arms, which is also a cozy bar and restaurant. We decided to eat dinner there one night with some drinks since they had a few veggie options which could be made vegan. We tried the veggie wrap - asparagus, snow peas, lettuce, tomato, carrot, and a light sauce served with fries (and it said guacamole, but really it was some creamy something that was not vegan). This was just okay, which is a shame since there were so many tasty veggies in it. I was disappointed.

We also tried the veggie burger (without coleslaw, aioli, or cheese). The burger was a root burger, which was quite crumbly, was a little sweet and pretty tasty. Not my favorite burger ever, but good and if we go to Kiruna again I would eat one again. Raymond really liked it, and the fries were tasty.

Overall - I really like the atmosphere in the Bishops Arms. It is cozy and a great place to have a drink and veggie burger. Stay away from the wrap though.

Marion Court Room, Lancaster PA

Location: 7 East Marion Street, Lancaster, PA 17602, USA

Marion Court Room holds a trivia night every week, and while I was visiting family my mom and I decided to check it out. We decided to get some dinner beforehand since we didn't know how busy it would be. We started with some spring rolls. They were alright. Nothing special.

I ordered the Grilled Veggie Wrap - roasted peppers, caramelized onions, zucchini, broccoli, and a balsamic glaze served with a pickle and chips. This wasn't very good. Somehow they made all those veggies taste just alright. I could have made a better wrap at home.

Overall - I would not go back to Marion Court Room for the food. I did really enjoy their trivia night though.

Cafe One Eight, Lancaster PA

Location: 18 West Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17603, USA

Last time I was in Lancaster we stopped into Cafe One Eight for some lunch. This trip we stopped in again and I got the same thing - the vegan delight - Hummus, cucumbers, caramelized onion, roasted red pepper, grapes, apples, baby carrots, mixed greens, tomatoes, and balsamic dressing on a wheat wrap served with chips. This was just as tasty as the first visit. I really need to remake this at home as it is so simple, but I never think to get all of the ingredients.

Overall - Cafe One Eight is a nice little cafe downtown Lancaster. They have a really good vegan wrap and you can also get some soy coffee and tea drinks as well. It is a good option if you are downtown.

Renaissance Cafe, Leavenworth WA

Location: 217 8th St, Leavenworth, WA 98826, USA

One time when coming back over the mountains from Eastern Washington we stopped in Leavenworth looking for some lunch and stumbled across the Renaissance Cafe. The food was delicious so when we took a weekend to go hiking nearby I wanted to go back and eat there again. This time we ordered Dawn's Favorite Tofu Scramble - herb and garlic tofu, bell peppers, zucchini, olives, tomato, minus the cheese in a herb garlic wrap. I was really excited for this as it seemed like it would be really flavorful, but unfortunately it really tasted like nothing. For as much herb and spice as was mentioned in the description it was just...not good. I am not really sure how they did it as the veggies should at least have flavor but somehow they didn't. If this is Dawn's favorite tofu scramble...well apparently Dawn hasn't had very many or any good ones. This was served with either a side salad, pasta salad (not vegan), or god food - linguini with garlic tahini-ginger sauce. This was really tasty. It had a nice nutty garlic flavor and I would have gladly eaten more of it.

The other wrap we tried was the Bohemian - black beans and potato mix, bell peppers, sprouts, onions, guacamole and salsa in herb garlic wrap served with the god food as well since we both wanted that. This one I was not as excited to try, but it was really good. So much better than the tofu scramble one. The potato bean mixture was spiced really well and it with the other ingredients it came together nicely. If we were to go back I would definitely get this.

Overall - Some of the food was good, some not so good. Leavenworth does not have a lot of vegan options so if you are there you could stop by but skip the tofu scramble. Or go to Munchen Haus which is amazing.

Yoyo Foodworld, Berlin Germany

Location: Gärtnerstraße 27, 10245 Berlin, Germany

Yoyo Foodworld is a vegan fast food restaurant owned by the same people who own Vego.We tried the schnitzelteller This was basically a chicken patty with some sweet sauce, french fries and a salad with taziki. It was alright, but again something I could replicate at home.

And a nugget wrap. Nuggets, salad, sauce and wrapped in a tortilla. This was delicious! The sauce was super tasty and really I would have been happy with just a salad and sauce wrap. The tortillas was really tasty as well - they seemed like they could have been homemade which is awesome. Perfect for a nice sunny day.

Overall - I really enjoyed Yoyo. The wrap was super amazing and we will definitely be going again.

Cafe One Eight, Lancaster PA

Location: 18 W Orange St, Lancaster, PA 17603, USA

While visiting family in Lancaster we took a day to go to the market downtown and walked around a bit waiting for lunchtime. We happened to walk by Cafe One Eight. It was hot out and I needed a beverage so we walked in and while we were waiting I glanced at the menu. They had a wrap that sounded delicious and summer so we came back for lunch. The Vegan Wrap contained Hummus, cucumbers, caramelized onion, roasted red pepper, grapes, apples, baby carrots, mixed greens, broccoli, tomatoes and balsamic dressing on a wheat wrap served with a side of fruit or chips. I chose chips since there was so much fruit in the wrap itself (and really the fruit was what drew me in as I never thought to put fruit in my wraps before). This was amazing! Seriously my favorite wrap ever. The fruit was nice and crisp as well as the veggies and the balsamic really brought it all together wonderfully. There were so many different things in this wrap and I loved it! I am definitely going to be recreating this at home. Especially on a nice hot summer day it is so refreshing and delicious.

Overall - Cafe One Eight is a small place with a few vegan options (or easily veganizable). I highly recommend the vegan wrap as it was amazing! Definitely stop in if you are in the area.

Planet Veg, Vancouver BC, Canada

Location: 1941 Cornwall Ave, Vancouver, BC V6J 1C8, Canada
From Vegan Gastrobot
I had put Planet Veg on my list of places to eat at in Vancouver because they had roti rolls. I was hoping they were going to be like the One Love Vegetarian in Toronto. We walked in and I thought oh I don’t know about this place…it just seemed like it wouldn’t be amazing food. When the food came out I again though oh…maybe we should have skipped this. It looks like just a burrito and an eh one at that. This is not going to be amazing like I had hoped. Boy was I wrong! It didn’t look like much but our roti roll was unbelievable! We ordered the Kathmandu roll which was a 12” spinach roti filled with cabbage, mixed vegetables cooked in spices, tomatoes, cucumber and crispy noodles with a jalapeno cilantro chutney.

From Vegan Gastrobot
I was iffy on the noodles – like it didn’t make sense in my head how that would be really good. The mixed veggies were just like the back of frozen carrots, corn, green beans, etc but they were spiced wonderfully! The combination of everything was just incredible – The noodles added a nice crunch, the sauce was delicious and not spicy, it all felt very light and healthy and perfect on a warm summery day. I was wishing we would have gotten more for the road. If I worked in the area I would stop by here for lunch all the time! We also tried the baked curry samosa. This was just alright – it did not have much flavor which surprised me since the roti roll was so flavorful.

Overall – Definitely stop in at Planet Veg. It is fast, cheap and incredibly good. Definitely try a roti roll!
